About Bloomingdale
Bloomingdale is a borough in Passaic County, NJ. As of the 2024 census it has a population of 7,795. It was incorporated as an independent borough in 1918 when Pompton Township was split into three new municipalities – Bloomingdale, Wanaque and Ringwood. The area was known as Bloomingdale throughout the 19th century. It was originally a farming community starting around 1712 with the “Bloomingdale Forge” being built shortly thereafter. That is presumably the origin of the borough’s name. The borough is bordered by the Passaic County municipalities of Pompton Lakes, Ringwood, Wanaque and West Milford.
