Ocean is a township in Monmouth County, NJ. As of the 2020 census, it has a population of approximately 27,672. The township was created in 1849 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The name Ocean is derived from the township’s original seaside location. Ocean NJ is bordered by the Monmouth County municipalities of Eatontown, West Long Branch, Long Branch, Deal, Allenhurst, Interlaken, Neptune, Asbury Park and Tinton Falls.
