About Waldwick NJ 07463

Waldwick is a borough in Bergen County NJ. As of the 2021 census it has a population of approximately 10,076. The area that is now known as Waldwick was part of Orvil Township in the 19th century. In 1919 a group of citizens voted to incorporate as a borough and call it Waldwick, after which Orvil Township was dissolved. Various derivations of the name “Waldwick” have been put forth. One is that it is from Old English, “wald” meaning forest, and “wick” meaning settlement or place. Another is that it is from a Saxon language word meaning “beautiful grove” or “village in a grove”. Waldwick is bordered by the Bergen County municipalities of Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Saddle River and Wyckoff.
