About Totowa
Totowa is a borough in Passaic County, NJ. As of the 2020 census it has a population of 11,1065. It was formed as a borough in 1898 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The borough’s name comes from a Native American word for the Great Falls over the Passaic River in nearby Paterson, which means “sinking or falling water” or “between mountains and water”. Totowa is bordered by the Passaic County municipalities of Haledon, Little Falls, Paterson, Wayne and Woodland Park.
