About Manasquan NJ 08736
Manasquan is a borough in Monmouth County, NJ. As of the 2023 census, it has a population of approximately 5,877. It was formed as a borough in 1887 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The borough’s name has several interpretations – Lenape Native American language – “Menaskunk” meaning “place to gather grass or reeds”. Also possibly from “Man-A-Squaw-Han” meaning “stream of the island of squaws”, “an island with enclosure for squans”, “island door” and “point” or “top”. Manasquan is bordered by the Monmouth County municipalities of Brielle, Sea Girt, and Wall Township.
