About Old Bridge NJ 08857
Old Bridge is a township in Middlesex County, NJ. As of the 2018 census, it has a population of approximately 66,000. What is now known as Old Bridge Township was originally incorporated as Madison Township in 1869 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. In 1975, the local voters agreed to change the name to Old Bridge to avoid confusion with the borough of Madison in Morris County. Its present name comes from the fact that the first bridge to span the South River was built there. As other bridges were built to cross the span, the first one became known as “the Old Bridge”. Old Bridge is bordered by the Middlesex County municipalities of East Brunswick, Monroe Township, Sayreville, and Spotswood.
