About Guttenberg NJ 07093

Guttenberg is a town in the northern part of Hudson County, NJ. As of the 2019 census, it has a population of approximately 11,317. It was formed as a town in 1859. Guttenberg became part of Union Township in 1861 and then became fully independent in 1878. Some say the town is named for Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the European version of the printing press.  Others say the name derives from “good village” in German. Guttenberg is located atop the Hudson Palisades and borders the Hudson County municipalities of North Bergen and West New York.
