About Oradell NJ 07649

Oradell is a borough in Bergen County NJ. As of the 2021 census it has a population of approximately 8,181. It was formed as the borough of Delford in 1894. This was during the “boroughitis” phenomenon that swept Bergen County, when 26 municipalities chose to become boroughs in that same year. The name “Delford” was a combination of the names of two communities within the borough, Oradell and New Milford. The borough officially changed its name to Oradell in 1920 based on the results of a referendum. Its origin is the latin “ora” for edge and “dell”. Oradell is bordered by the Bergen County municipalities of Dumont, Emerson, Haworth, New Milford, Paramus and River Edge.
